Another Addition to the Hope Clan

I’ve been a bit quiet over the last few weeks. A big part of that is due to the latest addition to the Hope Clan about a month ago (another factor is that I kept breaking my website every time I tried to post, but that is a story for another day).
Due to Abi having preeclampsia, it was decided that Blake would be induced. Cue a week-long stay in Scarborough Hospital before the little man arrived. It felt like every time we made progress, Abi’s body had other ideas!
As a side note: the food at the hospital was actually amazing. The portions were generous, the quality was great, and we were both full after every meal. We were joking that we might end up having date nights at the hospital just so we could have more of it.
After trying multiple methods to get Abi's contractions started, I was sent home on Tuesday night and told to expect a call in the early hours to return for an Oxytocin drip to speed up the process. Sure enough, at around 5:00 AM, I got the call from Abi to get back to the hospital as they were getting everything kicked off.
Abi was absolutely amazing. They started the drip at about 9:00 AM, and it took until half past 2:00 PM for the contractions to stabilize. But once they did, Blake shot out like a rocket and made his presence known!
Since then, it has been a bit of a whirlwind, to be honest. We had both forgotten exactly what the sleepless nights and feeding routines were like with Scarlett. Then you add the complexity of Scarlett being 18 months old—not quite sure what is going on and suddenly not having our undivided attention anymore. She’s been great, though; she really loves her little brother, and we haven’t had all that many tantrums over the last few weeks.
We are still getting used to everything, and while things seem to have settled down, I think we both know this might just be the calm before the storm.
That’s all I have for now. I’m not sure when my next post will be, but I’m hoping sooner rather than later—fingers crossed!
