Which @blackmagic_News setup works best for me?

So Over the last few months I’ve come up with a number of Video production setups as a bit of an exercise or to see what gear I would actually need to use Blackmagic latest gear. But that got me thinking… What gear would suit my workflow and the work that I plan to do in the future.

I’d like to have a 4K live streaming setup that is suitable for a variety of events that can also provide video to screens at the venue and provide video playback as well as a live sound mix for the stream. I’ve used the information I’ve gained from my previous posts and I think I’ve come up with a good solution that doesn’t cost the earth and is still in the realms of affordability.

I’ve gone with the ATEM Television Studio Pro 4K as the heart of this setup. It’s a really powerful piece of kit that will cover a large chunk of the requirements including the communications and Audio systems.

As for cameras, I’ve gone with the 4K versions of the Blackmagic Studio cameras. I’ve paired these with my Dante Audio Multicore setup and 6 Hyperdeck Studio 4Ks (4 to record each of the camera feed, 1 to record the main program feed and 1 for video playback).

I running a home made multicore to each of the cameras that has a 2 core single mode fibre cable and Cat5e cable that are 100 meters long. the fibre will carry the video and the cat 5 will carry the audio to the cameras from the venue sound desk.

I’ve also created a rack with a USW-16-POE-Gen2 Network Switch from Ubiquiti, 2 Mac minis (1 for streaming/recording and 1 for Live Video Graphics) 2 Ultra Studio 4Ks (paired with each of the Mac minis), the 6 HyperDeck Studios mentioned earlier, 4 optical to SDI converters, 2 Smart View 4Ks (1 for the multiview and 1 to view the Mac mini screens) and 1 Fibrebrik Panel to accept the optical feeds from the cameras paired with the Optical to SDI converters.

I’ve had to do a little troubleshooting so the sound engineer on the Mackie DAW Interface controlling the video feed audio can actually hear what’s going out on the stream. I’ve added an extra Dante Audio output adapter that will be connected to a pair of headphones via an XLR to Jack adapter.

I’ve also added an audio interface to each of the Macs. One has audio coming out of the Mac providing on Screen Graphics and the other has an audio feed going into it that can provide a separate audio source for recording the feed or streaming it out via internet radio.
