Isolation Day 50: I think we have mastered Fortnite

No, Not Really!

As you may have gathered from a few of my posts over the last few weeks, we’ve taken up playing Fortnite to kill time during lockdown. I can safely say that I am as rubbish now as I was a few weeks ago, as the video above proves.

To be fair, we’ve only done that jump at least 20 times and landed in the water just fine on at least 15 of them. Considering we had pulled an all-nighter so Abi could win the points for her Battle Pass, I don’t think I did too bad. We may have died, but we both had a good laugh. I’m up to around level 60 now, which isn't too bad for someone who hasn't really played first-person shooters—or many games at all, really.

Now that I’ve finally got my streaming software set up on my laptop, I may even start streaming a few of our sessions! Abi doesn’t want to be seen or heard, though, so it’ll just be a stream of my screen and nothing else for now, at least until I can convince her otherwise.

Cross-Platform Game Recommendations

Since you asked for recommendations for other cross-platform games, here are a few titles that are great for playing with friends regardless of what hardware you're using:

• Minecraft: The absolute gold standard for cross-play. Whether you’re on PC, console, or mobile, you can all jump into the same world to build, explore, or just survive together.
• Rocket League: If you want something high-octane and a bit ridiculous, this "soccer with rocket-powered cars" game is fantastic for mixed-platform groups.
• Apex Legends: If you enjoy the Battle Royale style of Fortnite but want different gameplay mechanics and character abilities, this is a top-tier choice that supports full crossplay.
• Sea of Thieves: Perfect if you want a more collaborative, adventurous experience. It’s a pirate-themed game that is built around teamwork and shared chaos.
• Among Us: A great social deduction game that’s easy to pick up, play, and run on almost anything.
