The Troubles of Writing a Daily Blog

It’s hard to write when there’s not much to write about

n

As some of you may have noticed, I didn’t write a blog post yesterday. There is a couple of reason for this. The first is that I actually thought I had another blog post scheduled that I could get away with not writing for a day (turn out I was wrong), secondly I was finishing day two of laying the laminate and got an early start and finally, it;’s difficult to write when there isn’t anything to write about.

n

You may be thinking, well you just said you’ve been laying laminate that’s something to write about, and whilst you are right not only have I talked about it before. I wasn’t going to do a write up on the experience until the job was complete and I could show you some pictures of our new look bathroom.

n

I’ve been finding it increasingly difficult to find things to write about lately. I know there’s a lot going on in the world at the moment, but when I started this blog I decided that I would only write about the thing that I was knowable about and wouldn’t get me into some kind of bother. It’s a bit of an issue when you not only have to think about your own reputation but that of the people you care about and the companies you work for. Hence my desire to stay away from hot topics.

n

Believe it or not, I put a fair amount of work into this blog spending at least three to four hours a day creating posts. Not only do I have to find a topic to talk about but also do a bit of research (which can be especially time-consuming when I’m looking up prices for things and creating affiliate links), If I have the time I also write up a quick draft so I know what I”m saying before expanding on it for your guys. I then create a Featured Image for each of the posts (I may reuse the odd image if it’s appropriate).

n

Then comes the hardest part for me, checking it all for spelling and grammar mistakes. Those of you that know me personally may already know that I suffer from Dyslexia. It really is a struggle for me to make sure everything looks and sounds right for you guys to read. You can defiantly see it in my earlier posts. One thing that has made things a bit easier for me is Grammarly, which handily has a safari plugin. So whilst my posts are still a bit of a ramble at least now they are spelt correctly.

n

I do plan on writing a few more posts on the technology I would love to have in my life as well as a few other things but there may be a few days where you don’t see any posts from me whilst I try and finish off the bathroom and come up with things to write about. Don’t worry I have;t dropped off the map entirely.

n

Whilst I created this website for myself, to ironical my life in lockdown and share my thoughts, I planned from the begging for this to be a two way street. I know not many people ready my blog, unless it has the word free in the title, but I do want to hear your feedback and ideas too. Who knows one day we could work together on a project that could change the world, or at least make it a little better.

n

What topic would you like me to discuss (that won’t get me in trouble with the wife or my future boss)? Have you struggled to find things to write about and what did you do to get around it? Do you have any feedback for the blog? As always let me know in the comments bellow.
